Once again the Light Commercial Vehicle market follows the Passenger Cars pattern this month: after explosive growth in January, February is down 15% year-on-year to 380,047 registrations as it was disrupted by the Lunar New Year. The year-to-date total now stands at 852,301 units, up 5% on 2012. After holding the top spot for the first time last month, the Wuling Hongguang literally takes off to reach a huge (and best-ever) 64,096 sales, up 160% year-on-year and double the score of the #2, traditional runaway leader the Wuling Sunshine at 32,883 units, down 36% year-on-year…
This is the highest volume reached by any model in China since November 2011. The Hongguang is obviously #1 year-to-date with 111,861 sales, up 159%, it also dominates the overall ranking given the VW Lavida is down to a still very respectable 34,889 units this month, bringing its year-to-date total to 83,156 (+120%). The ChangAn Minibus remains #3 in the LCV ranking with 26,570 sales, ahead of the Wuling Rongguang/Xingwang and the Foton Forland.
