It’s German-fest today and thanks to JKLN I can share with you what German consumers really bought in in January now that we have gone through the best-sellers to private buyers over the Full Year 2012. No change in pole position: the VW Golf is still in the lead, however its Private Sales ratio falls to 31% this month. The VW Tiguan brilliantly takes the 2nd spot with 2,325 sales to private buyers but also sees its PS ratio drop to 52%, and the VW Polo rounds up a podium 100% Volkswagen at 2,191 units but its 47% PS ratio is was down from 62% in 2012…
The Mercedes B-Class and A-Class follow, and for the latter it’s a 10 spot gain compared to its FY2012 ranking. Great month for the Smart Fortwo, up from #12 in 2012 to #6 in January with 1,598 sales and a very strong 68% PS ratio. Other great performers include the Seat Ibiza up to #9 vs. #16 in 2012, the Audi Q3 up to #12 vs. #20, Ford Focus up to #14 vs. #25, the Mazda CX-5 up to #17 at 772 units and 59% PS ratio whereas it didn’t rank in the 2012 Top 40 and the Renault Twingo up to #19 vs. #33 in 2012.
