Today Sophie Gannon from Lexus UK had the kindness of sharing very detailed sales figures for Toyota’s luxury division so I thought it would be worth a quick update on BSCB. You can check out the general UK September 2012 update here. Overall, Lexus is up 15% over the first 9 months of 2012 in the UK with 7,071 units sold over the period vs. 6,173 at the same time last year. Interestingly, most of this growth can be attributed to the brand’s hybrid cars, with the hybrid share of Lexus UK sales going from 74% after 9 months in 2011 to 82% this year.

The CT200h accounts for 55% of Lexus UK sales in 2012

The CT200h remains the brand’s best-seller in the country with 3,929 sales year-to-date (+35%) and more than half of Lexus sales, but the most impressive gain is delivered by the GS-Series helped by the new generation with sales up 596% over 9 months to 536 units, including 304 hybrids (+295%). This confirms news published last July about the success of the GS-Series in Europe and in particular of the GS450h in the UK…

It’s also worthwhile noting that the RX and LS models are sold exclusively as hybrids in the UK with stable sales for the former at 1,557 units year-to-date and just 15 sales for the latter, 7 of which registered in September (+40%). Finally, the only Lexus model not to feature a hybrid version here is the IS-Series, due to be replaced in 2014 and with sales understandably down 13% in September at 289 units and down 36% year-to-date at 1,034.
