Canada August 2012: Ford F-Series at highest in over 3 years

The Ford F-Series keep lodging outstanding month after outstanding month in Canada: it is up 26% year-on-year in August to 11,580 sales, its highest tally since March 2009, third time above 10,000 monthly units in the last 4 months, 4th time in the last 12 months and 5th time in the last 24 months. The F-Series has now sold 74,362 units since the start of 2012, up 15% on 2011 and 13% on 2010 which ended up being the pick-up truck’s all-time record year at 97,913 sales. This means 2012 could be the first year a vehicle sells more than 100,000 annual units in Canada.
The Honda Civic is up to #2 for the first time since last January with 5,785 sales, up a huge 88% year-on-year, but stays #3 year-to-date at 42,412 units vs. 47,515 for the Dodge Ram, down to #3 this month. Both the Dodge Grand Caravan and Ford Escape are also down one spot to #4 and #5 respectively, still an astounding performance as far as the Escape is concerned.
The Toyota RAV4 is up 4 ranks and 134% to #13, the Kia Rio is up 11 to break into the Canadian Top 20 for the first time for this generation at #20 with 1,733 sales, up 319% year-on-year, the Kia Sorento is up a further two spots to #22, the VW Golf is up 9 to #24, the BMW 3 Series is up 21 to #35 and the VW Passat is up 10 to #49, its second time in the Top 50 in the last 12 months.
Further down, notice the Honda Pilot up 34 ranks to #52, the BMW X3 up 10 to #68 vs. #93 year-to-date, the Dodge Dart landing in the Top 100 for its second month of sales in Canada at #82 with 423 units, the Acura ILX up 15 spots to #94, the Lexus ES up from outside the Top 150 last month to #100, the Subaru XV Crosstrek landing directly at #124 for its first month with 201 sales, the Subaru BRZ up to #151 and the Chevrolet Spark up to #152.
