Japan Kei cars July 2012: Honda NBOX & Toyota Pixis Space solid

Kei car sales are up 40% year-on-year in Japan in June to 184,582 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,275,005 units, up 49% on 2011. The Honda NBOX confirms it is the favourite car in the segment, leading the ranking for the 4th consecutive time with 21,837 sales, its 2nd month in a row above 20,000 units. The NBOX is still #2 year-to-date though at 125,678 sales, below the Daihatsu Mira at 146,694 units, up 252% on 2011. The Mira is #2 in July with 20,472 sales.

Toyota Pixis Space

In third position we find the Suzuki Wagon R, #1 in the Full Year since 2003, with 17,489 units, ahead of the Daihatsu Tanto and Move. In fact, the entire Top 12 best-sellers are unchanged vs. June! Notice the Toyota Pixis Space slowly but surely edging its way up at #10 with a best-ever 4,961 sales, 9 months after its launch in September 2011.
