Vietnamese car sales are back on BSCB and the situation is getting worse: the market is down 27% year-on-year in May to 5,710 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 29,812 units, down a very dark 35% on 2011. After losing the models pole position to the Kia Morning in 2011, Toyota has regained total control of the models ranking, placing 4 models in the May and 2012 year-to-date Top 4!
The Toyota Fortuner leads the way with 411 sales and 7.2% share this month and 2,044 units and 6.9% year-to-date. The Toyota Vios is up to #2 in June with 315 sales and 5.5% but #3 year-to-date, the Toyota Innova is #3 at 277 units and 4.9% and the Toyota Corolla ranks 4th with 269 sales and 4.7%, just above 2011’s leader the Kia Morning at 266.
Further down the ranking, notice the Toyota Hilux at #9, the Honda Civic reappearing in the ranking at #12 with 1.1% share, the Kia Sorento up 6 spots on March to a brilliant 14th place with 1% markets share and the Kia Rio at #18.
