Vietnam May 2011: Kia Morning takes the lead, Ford Fiesta arrives
Kia Morning in Hanoi, Vietnam – December 2010
Vietnamese car sales are down 19% in May at 7,661 registrations but still up 11% year-to-date at 44,966 units. Consequence of Toyota’s weakness due to Japan earthquake-related supply issues, Kia and Chevrolet perform very well with the Kia Morning taking the lead this month with 447 sales and 5.8% share, ahead of the Chevrolet Cruze at 333 units and 4.3%.
The Toyota Corolla (332 sales) and Innova (318) follow, the Kia Carens jumps 2 spots to land in 5th place at 4.1% share, and the Toyota Fortuner is 6th at 4%. Notice the arrival of the Ford Fiesta in 15th place for its first full month of sales in Vietnam with 76 units changing hands for a 1% market share.
