Turkey May 2012: Fiat Linea and Ford Fiesta on top

As usual car sales figures for Turkey are available with one month delay and in May the market slows down its fall at -10% year-on-year to 50,460 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 193,641 units, down 17% on 2011. In the models ranking the Fiat Linea is in pole position for the 4th month in a row and the 5th time in the last 6 months with a very solid 3,494 sales for a 6.9% market share. With the Renault Symbol down to #4 and the Renault Fluence down to #6 this month, the Linea reinforces its 2012 year-to-date leadership with 12,204 units and 6.3% vs. 5.3% for the Symbol and 5.2% for the Fluence.
Excellent month for the Ford Fiesta up 2 spots to #2 with 3,197 sales and 6.3%, its best position since last November. The Opel Astra Hatchback climbs onto the podium for the first time since last December with 2,428 units and 4.8%, while the VW Polo is up 11 spots on April to #5 with 2,107 sales and 4.2%. Notice also the Nissan Qashqai up 6 ranks to #12 and the Opel Astra Sedan (#17) and Renault Clio Station Wagon (#18) making an appearance in the Top 20. The BMW 5 Series is at a brilliant 25th place with 547 sales and 1.1%.
