After giving you Historical Data for the last 60 years in the country, it’s time to explore Swedish May 2012 sales, as usual the first cab off the rank for this new round of data updates. Car sales in Sweden are down again this month at -17% to 25,759 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 117,071 units, down 10% on 2011. If the Volvo V70 logically keeps the lead albeit at a lower 7% market share, sales of the Volvo S60 and V60 are counted together this month and push the model up to #2 with 1,224 sales and 4.8% while the VW Passat rounds up the podium at 1,197 units and 4.6% but stays #2 year-to-date at an extremely solid 6.3% share.
Below the VW Golf stable at 3.6% the Volvo XC60 is up 2 spots to reach a best-ever 5th place (it also ranked #5 in June 2011) with 637 sales and 2.5%. Two other models shine in the Top 10: with 550 units sold the BMW 3 Series is up to #8, its highest ranking in Sweden over 2 years. The Toyota Yaris is up 11 spots on last month to #9 with 490 sales and 1.9%, possibly the nameplate’s first ever foray into the Swedish Top 10!
Notice also the Mercedes C-Class up 12 ranks to #11, the Skoda Octavia up 11 to #14 and the Ford Mondeo up 29 to #15, the Ford Kuga up to #26 and the Ford S-Max up to #31. There are two newcomers in the Swedish Top 50 this month: the Peugeot 208 lands directly at #29 with 260 sales and 1% share while the VW Up! ranks #40 at 187 units and 0.7%.
