The Latvian new car market continues to slowly recover from the 2008-9 crisis, up 5% year-on-year of the first 3 months of 2012 at 2,488 registrations. And there is a big surprise atop the models ranking: after a couple of years of VW Golf domination, the Nissan Juke takes the lead thanks to 104 sales over the period and a strong 4.1% market share, up 229% year-on-year! Latvia is the first and only country in the world so far where the Juke has managed to rank #1.

The Golf is kicked down to #2 at 94 units and 3.8%, followed by the VW Passat with 85 sales and 3.4%. Peugeot is on fire and places the 5008 at a fantastic 4th position with 83 units, up 730% year-on-year, and the 3008 at #8 with 69 sales, up 73%. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is up to #5 (+34%) ahead of the Nissan Qashqai (+97%). Other great performers over the First Quarter of 2012 include the Subaru Outback at #25, Range Rover Evoque at #35, Porsche Cayenne at #37 and Hyundai i40 at #47.
