Massive month for car sales in Venezuela, up 48% year-on-year in March to 15,243 units, which brings the year-to-date total to 33,244 registrations, up 29% on 2011. No surprises in pole position: after leading the market for 7 consecutive years up until 2011, the Chevrolet Aveo looks like it’s headed the same way for 2012 with 2,329 sales and 15.3% share in March and 5,130 and 15.4% year-to-date, 2.5 times what the Ford Fiesta, #2 year-to-date, sold. The Fiesta is up to 7.8% however this month.

Back on the podium for the first time since last November, the Ford F-350 sells 814 units for a 5.3% market share, followed by the Chevrolet Cruze solid at 4.9% and the Chevrolet LUV up 2 spots on last month at 4.8%. The Ford Explorer and F-250 are both up 14 ranks to #8 and #12 respectively while the Chevrolet Spark is up 8 to #13. A newcomer gets noticed this month: the Peugeot 408 imported from Argentina, landing directly at #25 with 232 sales, while the Civetchi Pick-up (aka DongFeng Rich) reappears at #31 after one month off.
