Switzerland June 2011: VW Passat and Mini shine

The Swiss car market is up 4% over the 2nd Quarter of 2011 at 85,621 registrations, bringing the half-year figure to 158,474 units, up 7%.

The best-selling models podium is unchanged with the VW Golf back in shape at 4% share vs. 3.5% over Q1, ahead of the Skoda Octavia stable at 2.8% and the VW Polo up to 2.5% over Q2. The Opel Astra climbs to #4 in the year-to-date ranking, followed by the VW Passat up from #9 in Q1 to #5 over the first half of the year.

Ford Kuga

The Mini, helped by its Countryman version, goes up to #7 year-to-date with 2,351 sales and 1.5% share while the Ford Kuga holds onto an excellent 13th place in 2011 with 1,937 units and 1.2%. Other good performers over the 2nd Quarter of the year include the Renault Megane (#6), BMW 3 Series (#14), BMW 5 Series (#19) and Peugeot 508, breaking into the Swiss Top 100 for the first time at #82.
