Argentina May 2011: Chevrolet Classic & VW Gol Power on top

Nineteenth consecutive month of growth for Argentinean car sales at 66,908 units in May, up a massive 32%. The year-to-date figure stands at 362,180, up 29%. We return to a ranking split by versions and the Chevrolet Classic reclaims the pole position with 3,984 sales and a very solid 6% market share. It is also #1 over the first 5 months of 2011 with 19,715 units and 5.4%.

VW Gol Power

Starting the year in 38th position at 1%, the previous generation VW Gol, called Gol Power in Argentina, has improved every month, ranking 5th in April at 3.3% and now #2 in May with 2,659 sales and an impressive 4% share, just above the current gen Gol, the VW Gol Trend, #3 at 2,648 sales but #2 in 2011 with 15,380 units and 4.2%.

The Peugeot 207 ranks 4th, followed by the Renault Sandero and VW Bora. Great performers this month include the Fiat Uno 2010 at #14, the Ford Fiesta Kinetic at #21 and the Renault Latitude at #101, all reaching their best position ever in Argentina. The Chevrolet Celta, tried and tested for many years in Brazil, appears in Argentina for the first time directly at #48 with 434 sales.
