VW Golf

April 2011 is the 10th consecutive month of decline for UK car sales, down 7% at 137,746 registrations. The year-to-date figure is down 8% at 696,082 units. The Ford Fiesta is the best seller in the country for the 7th time in the last 12 months at 6,755 sales and 4.9% share.

The VW Golf has another brilliant month, up to #2 with 4,973 sales and 3.6%, just above the Vauxhall Astra, Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Focus, all within 130 units. The VW Polo also has an excellent month in 6th place at 3.3% share, ahead of the Vauxhall Insignia and Nissan Qashqai.

For the first time since July 2007 – or 45 months, the VW Passat ranks within the Top 10 thanks to its new generation, selling 2,720 units for a 2% market share. This means VW places 3 models in the Top 10 for the first time since October 2005.
