Brazil mid-December 2010: Uno only 62 units behind Gol!

The Brazilian market seems to have engaged in exponential growth: with 176,725 registrations in the first half of December it is up an enormous 41% year-on-year.

The slight under-performance of the new Fiat Uno over the last couple of months seems to have in fact been due to stock issues: there is a 20,000 units waiting line for the model (which has prompted Fiat to delay the 2-door version launch to 2011) and rumours that Fiat will have to open another factory in the country to keep up with demand. See great article about Fiat’s success in Brazil here.

In any case, December 1st Half figures show what the Uno is really capable of: with 14,793 sales, it reaches 8.4% of the Brazilian market (its best ever share), only 62 units behind the VW Gol in #1! December could very well be the Uno’s very first month on top of Brazilian sales.
