South Korea 2008: Hyundai Sonata clear leader, Kia Morning #3

After a scare in 2007, the Hyundai Sonata is back as the undisputed South Korea leader this year thanks to its facelift and sales up 3% to 123,208 units while the Hyundai Avante is down 21% to 87,579. The new gen Kia Morning (aka Picanto) is a roaring success in its native country, up 9 spots and 196% this year to #3 and 84,177 sales. The Hyundai Grandeur, Samsung SM5 and Daewoo Matiz are all down one rank to #4, 5 and 6 respectively.

Hyundai Avante

Further down, the Hyundai i30 is up 17 spots to #9 and 29,301 units, the Hyundai Genesis up 32 to #10 and 27,615 sales, the Kia Forte lands directly at #18 with 17,669 units sold, the Samsung QM5 (aka Renault Koleos) arrives at #22, the Kia Soul at #25 and the the Kia Mohave at #27.
