After a couple of years of high volatility, the models ranking podium stabilises somewhat in 2007. The VW Jetta keeps its best seller title and becomes the very first model to sell over 200,000 units in one year in China. At 201,131 units, it is up 14% year-on-year.
The Buick Excelle stays 2nd with sales up 11% at 196,742 units. It was even #1 at mid-year with 91,327 units. The success story of the year is without doubt the Toyota Camry (a different model from the US version). Launched in July 2006 it is extremely consistent at the highest level throughout the year and delivers 170,294 sales for its first full year, up 178% on 2006.
The Tianjin Xiali and Chery QQ stay 4th and 5th but both lose ground. The Ford Focus storms into the Top 10 in 6th place, up 6 spots and 57%, ahead of the Nissan Tiida (+11%) and VW Passat (+4%). Other great performers include the Haima 323 at #11 (+73%), the Chevrolet Aveo at #13 (+481%) and the BYD F3 at #14 (+93%).
