Brazil 2007: Gol and Palio at 220,000+ sales
The car market explodes in Brazil in 2007: +28% at 2,342,059 units! That’s way above France (2,064,999) and just under Italy (2,506,323) and Great Britain (2,404,007)…
The VW Gol is still the best seller (243,164 sales, 10.4% share) but this year the Fiat Palio was breathing down its neck, thanks to the 3rd generation released early in the year. At mid-year, only 8,000 units separated the two models (Gol at 108,268, Palio at 99,521), and the Palio took the 1st place in August at 22,357 sales vs. 19,975. The Italian star finished the year at 221,750 sales (9.5%).
Excellent performance of the 25-year old Fiat Uno, jumping onto the podium for the first time since 2001 with 128,524 sales and 5.5% share. The VW Fox/CrossFox, Chevrolet Celta (both 5.4%) and Chevrolet Corsa (5%) follow.
Note the impressive progressions of the Fiat Siena at #7 (+57%), Fiat Strada at #9 (+45%) and Honda Civic at #11 (+63%). The Chevrolet Prisma, a Celta Sedan, lands in the Top 10 for its first full year of sales at 54,609 units. The Renault Logan (#38) and Fiat Punto (#40) are all-new this year.
