USA 2005: Ford F-Series & Chevy Silverado break monthly records

Ford F Series

Another very strong year for trucks in the US: the Ford F-Series is the best-selling model in the country for the 24th consecutive year with 901,463 sales, down 4%. It broke its monthly volume record in July with no less than 126,905 units sold, or one every 21 seconds! This is the highest monthly volume achieved by any model in the US, possibly ever, but at least since the Ford Model T in the early 20th century…

Chevrolet Silverado

The Chevrolet Silverado is not left behind: #2 again at 705,980 sales, up 4%. It also breaks its own monthly volume record, in June at 109,359 units thanks to the GM Employee Discount for Everyone operation! It ranks #1 that month ahead of the Ford F-Series, the first time it passes its archenemy in a while, possibly a decade (if you have that info please get in touch!).

Nissan Altima

In 3rd place and up 1% at 431,703 sales, the Toyota Camry is the best-selling passenger car in the USA for the 4th year in a row. It peaks at 43,004 units in July and is followed by the Dodge Ram, down 6% at 400,543 sales and peaking at 48,710 units in July also. The Honda Accord ranks 5th (-5%) and manages the best monthly figure for a passenger car this year in August at 46,153 units. The Toyota Corolla improves (+1 spot at #6) and is even #5 five times this year.

Ford Mustang

Notice the Nissan Altima up 5 spots to #8 overall (+8%), to my knowledge the first time a Nissan ranks within a US Year-end Top 10 (please confirm if you know!). Replacing the Chevrolet Cavalier, the Chevrolet Cobalt delivers a convincing start, breaking into the Top 10 in May and finishing the year #15. The Ford Mustang shines and is in the Top 20 for 3 months, peaking at #13 in April.
