New car sales in Slovakia are up 3% year-on-year in May to 7.153 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 32.413 units, up 4% on 2014. The big news in the Slovak Top 10 in May is the arrival of the Suzuki Vitara: up to 9th place with 132 sales and 1.8% share for its 2nd full month of sales in the country. Notice also the Opel Corsa up 10 spots on April to #11 and the VW Golf Sportsvan up 32 to #12.

New light vehicle sales in Slovakia are up by a splendid 12% year-on-year in April to 7.192 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 25.260 units, up 3% on 2014. As expected Skoda keeps the lead of the Slovak brands ranking although its share its down at 18.7% vs. 20.6% year-to-date. Volkswagen (10.1%), Hyundai (9.4%) and Kia (7.2%) follow. The Skoda Octavia reclaims the pole position it holds year-to-date with just 6 units more than the Skoda Fabia, strong again at 5% share. Hyundai places both the i20 and i30 inside the April Top 5, with the i20 now the best-selling foreigner year-to-date, overtaking the VW Golf. For its first full month of sales in the country, the Suzuki Vitara surges to a fantastic 11th place with 116 deliveries and 1.6% share, confirming its instant blockbuster status in Eastern Europe after reaching #4 in Hungary and #28 in Poland this month.

New car sales in Slovakia are up a robust 13% year-on-year in March to 7,323 registrations, bringing the first quarter total almost to neutral compared to 2014 at -0.4% and 18,068 units. For the first time since last July and thanks to the new generation finally slotting into gear, the Skoda Fabia edges past the Rapid by just 3 units to claim the pole position in March. Year-to-date however, the Fabia ranks third at 5% share vs. 6% for the Octavia and 5.7% for the Rapid.

Hyundai manages to places 3 models among the Top 9 best-sellers this month: the i20 remains in 4th place and 1st foreigner above the Golf (it is still behind the German compact car year-to-date), the i30 is up one spot on February to #6 and the ix35 is up 19 to #9. Other great performers in March include the Skoda Roomster up to #7 (it was #22 over FY14), the Mazda3 up 8 ranks to #14, the Mitsubishi ASX up 21 to #15, Dacia Sandero up 27 to #19 and the Peugeot 2008 up 28 to #20.

The Slovak new car market displays almost perfect stability this month: down just one unit year-on-year in February to 5,766 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 10,745 units, down 7% on 2014. As usual, Skoda monopolises the models podium, albeit in a different order than over the Full Year 2014: the Octavia (6.4%) leads by far, ahead of the Rapid (5.1%) while the Fabia (4.7%) is up two spots on a paltry 5th place in January to round up the podium. Lifted by its much improved new generation, the Hyundai i20 is up to a splendid 4th place with 183 sales and 3.2% share vs. #14 in FY14, the Renault Clio is up to #11, the Renault Megane up to #14, Dacia Logan MCV up to #19 and Dacia Dokker up to #23.

Very strong results for the Slovak new car market in 2014, up 10% year-on-year to 78,107 registrations. In the models ranking, an immobile podium hides vastly different evolutions: the Skoda Octavia holds onto the pole position by the skin of its teeth, with sales down 3% to 4,096 units and 5.2% share. The Skoda Fabia, boosted by discounts on the outgoing generation, is up 7% to finish the year at 4,031 sales for an identical 5.2% share, and the Skoda Rapid benefits from the addition of the Spaceback version to lift its deliveries by 53% on 2013 to 3,942 units and 5% share! A very close finish in Slovakia in 2014 indeed.

Outside the podium, the top selling foreign models reverse their ranking: the VW Golf (+26%) is up two spots to #4, the Kia Cee’d (+21%) remains at #5 and the Hyundai i30 (-17%) is down two to #6. Further down, notice the Skoda Yeti up 29% to #10, Hyundai i20 up 37% to #14, Skoda Superb up 32% to #19, Peugeot 308 up 85% to #24, the Seat Leon tripling its sales to #25, the Mazda3 up 175% to #32, Dacia Logan MCV up 337% to #33, Peugeot 2008 up 108% to #37 and the Renault Captur up 166% to #48.

As usual there is one month delay for Slovakian data, so now is time for November figures with a market down 2% year-on-year to 5,471 registrations (5,983 including LCVs), lifting the year-to-date total to 64,353 units, up 10% on 2013 – 71,311 sales including LCVs. It does look like the surprise leadership of the Suzuki SX4 in October was the nameplate’s swan song: it sells zero units in November! Skoda reclaims its monopoly of the sales charts’ podium with the Rapid leading the way this month above the Fabia and Octavia, displaying a reverse order to the year-to-date ranking. Below the VW Golf strong again at #4, the Skoda Yeti is up 9 spots on October to make it 4 Skodas in the Top 5, the Dacia Duster is up 11 ranks to #9, the VW Golf Sportsvan up 8 to stop just two units shorts off its first Top 10 ranking in the country at #11 and the VW Up up a stunning 116 spots to #12.

7,854 new light vehicles found a buyer in Slovakia in October (one month delay for Slovakian data), bringing the year-to-date total to 65,328 units. Surprise atop the models ranking this month: the Suzuki SX4 (previous generation) surges 9 spots on October to land directly in pole position ahead of all the Skodas thanks to 464 sales and 5.9% share. It however remains #7 year-to-date. Below, the Skoda Octavia, Fabia and Rapid follow in the same order as the YTD ranking now that the Octavia reclaimed the YTD pole position off the Fabia. Notice also the Kia Rio up 5 ranks on October to #8, the Renault Clio up 7 to #10, the VW Golf Sportsvan up 11 to #19 and the Citroen C4 Cactus up 50 to #67.

Always a little bit of delay for Slovakia data, with August now available. 5,668 new cars found a buyer this month, with Skoda once again monopolising the podium with the Fabia (5.3%), Octavia (4.9%) and Rapid (4.8%) in the same order as year-to-date. It also means the Fabia is slowing distancing itself from the Octavia year-to-date at 2,743 sales vs. 2,685 after 8 months. Far from being a definitive advantage for the Full Year 2014 title, but with the new generation coming in soon, the Fabia has just taken a very serious option at the annual crown. Further down, the VW Golf is back to #4, followed by the Hyundai i30 and Suzuki SX4 while two additional Volkswagens find their way into the Slovak Top 10 this month: the Passat is up to #8 vs. #16 YTD and the Up lands at #10 vs. #63 YTD, selling as much in one month as during the rest of the year so far… Notice also the Dacia Logan MCV up to #16, Mazda3 up to #17 and the VW Golf Sportsvan up to #44.

Traditionally with a little bit of delay we now have access to sales data for Slovakia where the new car market is up a very robust 28% year-on-year in July to 7,308 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 45,962 units, up 22% on 2013. The Skoda Fabia remains on top thanks to 472 sales and 6.5% share, enabling it to also grab the year-to-date top spot off the Skoda Octavia at 2,441 units and 5.3% vs. 2,409 and 5.2% for the Octavia, #2 this month at 4.7% share. The Skoda Rapid is stable in third position with 328 sales and 4.5% in July. The Kia Cee’d is strong at #4 and 3.9% share, the Opel Astra and VW Polo are both up 4 ranks on June to #6 and #7 respectively, the Dacia Duster is up to #12, the Skoda Roomster up to #14, VW Crafter up to #16, VW Touareg up to #24 and the BMW X3 up to #49.

7,395 new cars found a buyer in Slovakia in June, bringing the half-year total to 38,654 units. After both the Skoda Fabia and Octavia lost their battle for the pole position to the Rapid in May (the Rapid also held the #1 rank year-to-date then), it’s the turn of the Fabia to grab the top spot in Slovakia this month thanks to a very strong 6.9% share and 508 sales. However the Octavia is back on top year-to-date at 2,062 units vs. 2,043 for the Rapid and 1,969 for the Fabia. A very tight (internal) fight for the top spot indeed this year!

Both the Kia Cee’d and Hyundai i30 take advantage of a weak month from the VW Golf to take the #4 and #5 spots respectively, while the Golf is #4 year-to-date. The Kia Rio is up an impressive 20 spots on May to #6, the Renault Mégane an even more remarkable 42 ranks to #8 and the Dacia Duster is up 25 to #16. Notice also the Dacia Logan MCV up 18 to #21, the Opel Meriva up 48 to #34 and the VW Golf Sportsvan breaking into the Top 100 for its second month in market at #80.
