Bahrain Full Year 2017: Land Cruiser holds onto #1, market down 25.6%

New car sales in Bahrain are down a steep 25.6% year-on-year in 2017 to just 36.627 registrations. Toyota falls slightly faster than the market at -28% but its share remains at an untouchable 39.4% share, over 4 times the amount of #2 Nissan, also down 28% to 9.4%. Hyundai resists a little better at -19% and sees its share climb to 8.9% but the best performer in the Top 10 is Kia in 4th place, actually managing a sales increase at +9% to 5.8%. Mazda (-1%), Chevrolet (-3%), Honda (-13%) and Mitsubishi (-16%) also improve their share whereas Lexus (-35%) and Isuzu (-42%) do not. Further down, Ram (+346%), SAIC (+161%), Geely (+77%), Peugeot (+23%), Volvo (+19%), Chrysler (+17%), Mini (+17%), Cadillac (+9%), Suzuki (+9%) and Dodge (+8%) all post year-on-year gains.

The Toyota Prado remains in 2nd place in Bahrain.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Land Cruiser lodges a 4th consecutive annual win despite a 20% sale drop which actually improves its market share to 9.8%. The Toyota Prado (-17%) follows in 2nd place like in 2016 while the Toyota Corolla (-14%) is up one spot to #3, the Toyota Yaris (-4%) is up three to #4 and the Hyundai Accent (-16%) is the best-selling non-Toyota in Bahrain for 2017 followed by the Nissan Sunny (+28%) and Hyundai Elantra (-10%). The Kia Cerato shoots up 34% to #14, the Kia Sportage is up 30% to #15 and the Nissan Kicks is the best-selling new launch for the year at #18 ahead of the Mazda CX-3 (#80) and Geely X7 (#115).
