Bahrain Full Year 2015: Toyota Land Cruiser hits 10% share

Timid growth for the Bahraini new light vehicle market in 2015 at +1% to 60.110 registrations. Nearly every second new vehicle sold in the country is a Toyota: the Japanese carmaker improves its market share to a mammoth 44.6% thanks to 26.809 sales, and is followed by Nissan at 10% (+1%), Hyundai down 31% to 5.9% and Lexus up 22% to gain on spot to #4 overall with 5.3% of the market. Kia is down 25% in 5th place, Mitsubishi up 47% to #6, while Ford (+22%), Mazda (+26%) and Isuzu (+68%) all post spectacular gains inside the Top 10. Further down, notice Dodge (+27%), Renault (+35%), Ram (+50%), Geely (+85%) and Subaru (+88%) all taking off.

Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser cements its leadership with sales up 9% to 6.026 for a round 10% market share, signing a second consecutive year in pole position and its 4th win in the past 5 years. The Toyota Hilux (-3%) ranks 2nd while the Toyota Prado, leader in 2013, is down a harsh 25% and one spot to #3. With the Hiace (+21%), Corolla (-11%) and Yaris (-8%), Toyota monopolises the Top 6 best-sellers like in 2014. The Mitsubishi Lancer EC, up an incredible 4-fold on 2014, is the most popular non-Toyota at #7 followed by the Hyundai Accent (+55%). The Lexus LX, the Land Cruiser’s (even more) premium twin, is up 20% to brilliantly break into the Bahraini Top 10 at #9.
