Hungary June 2017: Opel edges past Skoda YTD, market up 11.6%

The Hungarian new car market is up another splendid 11.6% year-on-year in June to 10.820 registrations, lifting the H1 tally up 19.2% to 54.794 units. Suzuki surges 27% to hold onto the brands top spot with 12.4% share, with the Japanese manufacturer gaining 30% so far this year. Ford (+8%) is back up to the 2nd spot it holds year-to-date (+31%) while Opel (-9%) manages to overtake Skoda year-to-date to snap the third position overall. In the remainder of the Top 10 brands, Nissan (+54%), Toyota (+50%) and Renault (+25%) post the largest increases. Over in the models ranking, the Suzuki Vitara remains the most popular nameplate in the country but trails the market growth at +4%. It is followed like last month by the Skoda Octavia (-12%) and Ford Focus (+35%) with the Dacia Duster up one spot to #4, knocking down the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross to #5. The Nissan Qashqai (#6) and Fiat 500 (#8) reappear inside the Top 10 and the Renault Megane stays at a very satisfying #10.
