Monaco Full Year 2016 (brands): Mercedes takes off, Porsche on podium

New passenger car sales in Monaco are up 5.3% year-on-year to 3.020 registrations, and this market gives us the opportunity to look into the eyes of the rich and famous, with luxury brands achieving record rankings and market shares. Market leader Mercedes widens the gap with the rest of the marques present in the country with a 15% surge to 519 deliveries and 17.2% share. Audi on the other hand drops 9% to 10.9% share and Porsche is down 3% to 8.8% but brilliantly remains on the podium. Smart (+14%) overtakes Land Rover (-18%) for 4th place overall with Mini (+17%) and Fiat (+13%) the other double-digit gainers inside the Top 10.
Porsche ranks third in Monaco for the fifth year running.
Bentley soars 19% to remain just outside the Top 10 in 11th place, a ranking it can only achieve in Monaco, It distances Ford (+60%) boosted by Mustang sales as we’ll see in the second Monaco update covering the models sales charts. Ferrari is up one spot to #13 and 2.1% share, Rolls-Royce is down 3% to equal #21. Lexus (+30%), Maserati (+30%), Kia (+112%), Dacia (+171%) and Jaguar (+900%) also shine in the Top 20. Although nested within France, car buyers in Monaco do not prefer French marques, with none of them even making the Top 10. Renault (#14) is outsold by Bentley and Ferrari, Peugeot (#16) is below Lexus and Citroen (#21) is below Jaguar and sells as many units as Rolls-Royce…
