New Caledonia (France) July 2016: Dacia Duster reigns

New car sales in New Caledonia, an overseas French territory located north east of Australia, crumble down 36% year-on-year in July to 691 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down 18% to 4.353 sales. Ford remains in the lead over the first 7 months of the year despite a harsh 24% drop to 515 sales and 11.8% share, with Dacia (-4%), Peugeot (-4%) and Renault (+31%) catching up fast. Other positive performers include Subaru (+8%), BMW (+23%), Fiat (+35%) and Dodge (+17%). The Dacia Duster has now established itself as the most popular nameplate on the archipelago with 260 sales and 6% share, distancing the Ford Ranger (4.8%), Ford Fiesta (4.7%), Toyota Hilux (3.9%) and Peugeot 208 (3.7%).
