Even though it posted a sixth consecutive all-time record year in 2015, the Filipino new car market isn’t done yet: January sales are up a further 28% to 23.808 units, February is up 22% to 25.150, March up 16% to 27.441 and April up 30% to 27.697. As a result, through April Filipino sales are up 24% to 104.096. Note these are sales of CAMPI members and therefore do not represent 100% of the market. In April, Toyota is once again the runaway market leader with 41.5% share above Mitsubishi at 18.6%, Ford at 10.6%, Isuzu at 8.4% and Honda at 7.1%. In the models ranking, the Toyota Vios is estimated to frankly hold onto its pole position with 10.5% share over the first four months of the year just as the Hiace gains one spot on its FY15 to 2nd place with 6.7% share.
But the big surprise in the charts is the instant blockbuster status of the Ford Everest, with the new generation model climbing directly into the third place overall thanks to 4.854 sales and 4.7% share. The Mitsubishi Montero Sport is also holding very strong at #4, with the Toyota Wigo and Hilux following. Below, the Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Mirage G4 continue to progress while the Toyota Innova sinks from #2 in FY15 to #9 due to the changeover with the new generation. Further down, notice the Nissan Urvan at #20 and the Mahindra Enforcer pointing its rugged bonnet at #32 with 684 units sold.
