Saudi Arabia Full Year 2013: Toyota Corolla catches up on Hilux

New car sales in Saudi Arabia are up a very satisfying 7% year-on-year in 2013 to 755,563 registrations, cementing the country as one of the 20 biggest car markets in the world (in between Turkey and Spain). The Toyota Hilux remains the most popular choice with car buyers in Saudi Arabia with 67,899 sales and 9% share, stable on 2012, however the next two models are catching up fast: the Toyota Corolla is up 22% to 62,254 units and 8.2% share while Hyundai Elantra is up an even more impressive 69% to 52,823 sales and 7% share vs. 4.4% in 2012! The Hyundai Accent (-3%) and Toyota Camry (-7%) both drop one spot to #4 and #5 respectively and the Toyota Yaris stays 6th.

Let’s salute the solid performance of the Isuzu D-Max up 17% and 3 ranks to #7, the Ford Expedition up one spot to #8, the Honda Accord up 31% to #12, Ford Taurus up a huge 85% to #18, Hyundai Santa Fe up 50% to #25, the Nissan D22 pick-up back to life at #33, Mazda CX-9 up 174% to #40, Ford F-Series up 161% to #43 and Mazda6 up 511% to #45. The Nissan Sentra is the best-selling all-new entrant at a relatively low 82nd place just above the Hyundai i10 at #83 and the Peugeot 301 at #96 with 989 sales.
