Switzerland January 2014: Mazda CX-5, BMW X3 and Opel Mokka all in Top 10 at record ranking!

The Swiss new car market starts the year down 4% on 2013 in January to 20,214 registrations, and it’s a very eventful month in the models ranking indeed. The Skoda Octavia passes the VW Golf to claim the pole position for the 6th time in the last 17 months with 722 sales and 3.6% share vs. 699 and 3.5% for the Golf. Below the BMW 3 Series up 3 spots on December to #3 and the VW Tiguan stable at #4, we find the Suzuki SX4 back up 4 ranks to #5, the 4th time in the last 5 months it ranks within the 6 best-sellers in Switzerland! The Mazda CX-5 is up a mammoth 53 spots on last month to hit #6 with 301 sales and 1.5%, an all-time record ranking (previous best: #10 last September). The BMW X3 is up 11 ranks to #8 at 285 units and 1.4%, also an all-time record ranking (previous best: #10 in September 2012 and November 2013). The Opel Mokka is up 34 spots to #10 with 273 sales and 1.4%, yet again an all-time record ranking and the first time the Mokka ever ranks inside any country’s monthly Top 10 (previous best: #15 in April 2013). Notice also the Hyundai i30 up 31 ranks to #12, the Fiat 500 up 40 to #14, Hyundai ix35 up 45 to #17, Volvo XC60 up 18 to #18, BMW X1 up 15 to #20 and the BMW X5 up 20 to #25.
