The Swiss new car market is down 7% year-on-year in May to 27,252 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 127,400 units, also down 7% on 2012. The VW Golf finally enjoys the full benefits of its new generation, selling more than double the #2 this month at 1,226 sales and 4.5% which is its highest market share in the country so far in 2013. Only 2 units below, the BMW 3 Series maintains itself inside the podium at #3 and is getting dangerously close to the VW Polo in the 2013 year-to-date ranking at #4 and 2,101 sales vs. 2,128. The Skoda Octavia is down two spots to #4, the Ford Focus up an impressive 14 to #6 which earns it a spot in the YTD Top 10 at #9, the Audi A3 up one further rank to #7, the Mini up 13 to #9 and the BMW X3 up 12 to #12. Other great performers this month include the Seat Leon up a whopping 34 spots to #13, the Fiat Punto up 22 to #19, Dacia Sandero up 38 to #23, Skoda Yeti up 35 to #29 and the Renault Captur breaking into the Swiss Top 100 for the first time at #93.
