Slovenian new car sales are down 13% year-on-year in January to 4,383 registrations. The Renault Clio continues to dominate with 301 sales and 6.9%, but is followed this time on the podium by two Volkswagens: the Golf is up one spot on December to #2 at 223 units and 5.1% and the Polo is up 5 to #3 with 176 sales and 4%. The Kia Cee’d excels, up 7 ranks to #4 at 128 units and 2.9%, as do the Skoda Fabia up 4 to #6 with 120 sales and 2.7% and the Kia Sportage up 7 to #9 at 80 units and 1.8% vs. #19 in FY2012.
But to my view the biggest event in Slovenia this month is the arrival within the Top 20 of the Fiat 500L, produced in neighbouring Serbia, up a gigantic 42 spots on December to #16 with 63 sales and 1.4% share. This makes Slovenia only the second country in the world after Italy where the 500L has managed to break into the Top 20 so far. Notice also the Dacia Lodgy up to a best-ever #18 at 61 units and 1.4%, the Ford B-Max up 23 ranks to #24, BMW X1 up to #31, Toyota Auris up to #38, the Citroen C-Elysee up to #39 for its first full month in market while its twin the Peugeot 301 ranks #65.
