Car sales in Slovenia are off to a relatively slow start in January at 5,011 registrations, down 8% year-on-year. The Renault Clio is faithful to its traditional pole position with 326 sales and 6.5% share while the VW Golf is up a very healthy 8 spots on December to land at #2 with 202 units and 4%, its highest share in the country in one year. The VW Polo rounds up the podium like in the Full Year 2011 ranking with 173 sales and 3.5%.

Whereas the Renault Megane and Opel Astra are in sharp decline compared to last month, the new generation Kia Rio manages to maintain itself within the Slovenian Top 6 for the 2nd month in a row thanks to 109 units sold for a 2.2% market share vs. 0.4% over 2011. Other good performers in January include the VW Passat up to #7, Skoda Fabia up to #8, Peugeot 308 up to #10, VW Touran up to #12, Kia Sportage up to #14, VW Tiguan up to #19 and the locally produced Renault Twingo up to #21.
