Vietnam December 2012: Toyota Fortuner above 10% share!

The Vietnamese new car market is back in ‘hell’ in December: down 21% year-on-year to 8,627 registrations, bringing the Full Year 2012 total to 80,487 units, down a horrid 27% on 2011. The Toyota Fortuner reaches new heights this month and breaks the 10% market share milestone for first time in the country at 10.1% thanks to 872 sales. The Fortuner has now ranked #1 in Vietnam for 8 consecutive months! Excellent month also for the Toyota Camry, up 4 spots on November to #2 with 565 units and 6.5% vs. #10 in the Full Year. The Toyota Corolla Altis is up 3 ranks and rounds out the podium with 526 sales and 6.1%.
The Toyota Innova at #4 (5.5%) and Vios at #5 (4.9%) complete a Top 5 100% Toyota this month. Boosted by the new generation, the Honda CR-V continues to progress, now #6 at 243 units and 2.8% vs. #12 in the Full Year. One year after its launch in the country, the Kia Picanto (new generation) seems to have finally taken the relay from the Kia Morning (previous gen): the former is up 16 ranks to a best-ever #8 while the latter is down 23 to #26… Notice also the Ford Ranger up 10 spots to #10 and the Ford Focus up one to #11.
