Hungary Full Year 2012: Previous gen Opel Astra new #1

New car sales in Hungary are up a very encouraging 17% year-on-year in 2012 to 53,059 units, the best year in the country since 2009 but still a far cry from the 234,000 units sold back in 2004…  Opel continues to sell the previous generation Opel Astra in Central Europe and in Hungary it takes the lead this year with 3,102 sales and 5.8% share! The current gen also ranks within the Top 10 at #7 with 1,395 units and 2.6%… Leader last year, the Skoda Octavia is down 7% to #2 and 2,865 sales while the Ford Focus is down 18% to #3 and 2,085 units.

Suzuki Swift

All the other models within the Hungarian Top 10 display explosive growth. Suzuki is back with a vengeance, placing the Swift at #4 (+162%) and the SX4 at #10 (+128%), the Dacia Duster is up 5 spots and 62% to an outstanding 5th position with 1,452 sales and 2.7%, the Skoda Fabia is up a massive 128% to #6 and the Nissan Qashqai up 90% to #9. Brand-wise, Opel leads the way ahead of Skoda and Ford.
