With a bit of delay I am now able to share with you a Full All-models Top 322 Ranking for Europe in April 2012 and year-to-date thanks thanks to Lancia Lover from autoweek.nl. We won’t dwell on the Top 10 which was the subject of a previous post except to say that the BMW 3 Series and Fiat Panda make their return among Europe’s 10 favourite car which hasn’t gone unnoticed. Outside the Top 10, notice the Fiat Punto back is shape, up 15 spots on March to #15 and the VW Tiguan doing better and better at #16 and now #18 year-to-date vs. #35 over the Full Year 2011

Can the VW Up! break into the European Top 20 this year? It is #36 for now. Picture by Peder, all rights reserved.

The VW Up! continues its progression and is up 11 ranks on last month to #36 with 8,977 units: this is now better than the Renault Twingo (#38) and way above the Peugeot 107 (#65), Toyota Aygo (#68) and Citroen C1 (#71). The Peugeot 208 breaks into the European Top 50 for the very first time, up 52 spots to #46 with 7,714 sales, the Mercedes A Class is up 14 to #48 and the Audi Q3 is up 16 to #56. Notice also the Chevrolet Aveo up 20 to #66.

The Porsche Cayenne sold better than the Mazda3 in Europe this month. Picture by Thomas Van Rooij, all rights reserved.

A few recent launches get themselves noticed this month: the Mazda CX-5 is up 16 spots to #127, the Citroen C4 Aircoss is up to #160 with 1,271 sales, the Dacia Lodgy appears at #195 and 675 units, the Kia Optima is #226 with 375 sales and the Peugeot 4008 is #236 at 255 units. Oddity: at 1,771 units, the Porsche Cayenne sells better than the Mazda3 (1,766) and the Porsche Panamera sells 7 times as much as the Suzuki Kizashi (739 vs. 109)!
