The French new car market is down 6% year-on-year over the first 18 days of June at 98,278 registrations. Renault has reclaimed the brand leadership with 16.6% share (-6%) ahead of Peugeot at 16% (-11%) and Citroen at 15.2% (-18%). Only 3 brands in the Top 10 see their sales increase year-on-year: Volkswagen is at +17% with 9,252 sales, Dacia is at +22% with 5,125 units, 18% of which are Lodgy sales, and Toyota is at +33% off a low base last year due to the earthquake at 3,494 sales.
In the models ranking, the Renault Scenic is really impressive this month and confirms its pole position with 4,088 sales and an extremely solid 4.2% market share, up 41% year-on-year. If the Scenic finishes the month at #1 it will be the first time it does so since June 2005! The Citroen C3 resists in 2nd place with 3,595 units and 3.7% while the Peugeot 208 rounds up the podium with 3,191 sales and 3.2%, only 8 units above the Renault Clio. Notice the VW Polo still very robust at #5 and 3.1% share, up a massive 31% year-on-year.
