Brazil February 2012: Fiat Uno, Palio and 500 strong

For once, Brazil new car sales are down 9% year-on-year at 235,896 registrations, bringing the 2012 year-to-date total even with last year at 488,593 units. Interestingly this means Brazil is below India over the period! The VW Gol is #1 for the second month in a row with 18,597 sales and 7.9% share however the Fiat Uno is very close at 18,341 units and 7.8%. The Uno was #1 over the second half of the month with 8,225 sales and 8.3% vs. 7,304 for the Gol.
The Fiat Palio is also doing well, steadily progressing towards the top and back on the podium this month for the first time since April 2010 at 11,558 sales and 4.9% including 5,099 sales and 5.1% over the 2nd half of February. The Chevrolet Cruze hits its highest Brazilian ranking so far at #19 with 2,827 sales and 1.2%, so does the Nissan March at #21 with 2,664 sales and 1.1%, the Fiat 500 at #38 with 1,468 sales and 0.6% and the Peugeot 308 at #120. The VW Jetta also shines at #28.
