Brazil February 2011: Fiat Uno #1, passes Gol for the first time! Discover the Top 100 best selling models

Brazilian car sales are up 22% in February at 258,841 registrations. Massive event this month: the Fiat Uno passes the VW Gol for the very first time to become Brazil’s best selling car! At 21,470 sales it grabs 8.3% of the market, compared to 20,989 and 8.1% for the VW Gol.

It is the first time in over 3 years the VW Gol is not #1 in the monthly Brazilian rankings, and only the 4th time in 10 years: that’s 116 months out of 120 going to the Gol! Over the last 15 years only one model had managed to beat the Gol: the Fiat Palio, making the novo Uno only the second model to do so since 1996…

Since 2002, the Fiat Palio managed to rank #1 in Brazil only 3 times: in September & October 2006, and August 2007.

    I do not remember the name, but on our last visit to Brazil I took a picture of a small Chev pick-up truck—and wondered why this sleek good looking unit was not sold in the north–safety or polution crap? it is also the only country I have been to outside of Canada where the Ferarri’s are beat to crap from the poor roads in the major cities
