Slow start of 2012 for the European market, down 7% year-on-year in January to 1,003,814 registrations. The podium is unchanged vs. December and the Full Year 2011 ranking with the VW Golf in the lead at 3.6% share ahead of the VW Polo at 2.6% and the Ford Fiesta at 2.4%. The Ford Focus reaches its best position since last August at #4 with 22,316 sales and 2.2% share, up 7% on January 2011.
The VW Passat is also up year-on-year at +15% thanks to 17,694 units sold at #7 but this month’s best performances are found at the bottom of the Top 10: the Nissan Qashqai breaks into the Top 10 for only the third time ever after July 2010 and September 2011 and reaches its highest ever European ranking at #9 with 16,881 sales. The Skoda Octavia for its part appears in the European Top 10 for the very first time at #10 with 16,565 units, up 22% year-on-year.

I think Toyota is not safe and quality cars, now.@Blofeld
The reason for better Passat-sales might be, that in january 2011 not all versions have been offered because of the facelift at the end of 2010.
Oil price at silly height, but all the B segment models with a big “-”, while the biggest one (Passat) has a giant “+”. I’ll never understand some people…
Bravo Octavia, great result for a car introduced in 2004!
She (skoda) is on polish plates, so it must be somewhere in polish mountains. The plates are from region “wielkopolska” – there is no no mountains:( – city Poznań general imported of Skoda’s cars.
@Blofeld
I have a MK1 Octavia TDI FL 110 2001 and 210 000 km, no reliability problems!
OMG, once I owned a octavia.
That was not so funny with the bad reliability.
