At 318,358 registrations, the Swiss car market is up a very healthy 8% this year. As it has been the case for the last 38 years, the VW Golf is the best-selling car in the country with 12,708 sales and 4% share, up 5%. This is actually its highest volume since 2001 when it sold 16,704 units. A significant performance in a evermore fragmented market.

Skoda Octavia

For the 4th consecutive year the Skoda Octavia ranks 2nd, this time with 9,297 units and 2.9%, up 20%. This is its highest ever annual volume in Switzerland and equal-highest market share with 2009. The next two positions are unchanged vs. 2010: the VW Polo is up 25% to 7,584 sales and the Opel Astra is up 10% to 5,191 units. Excellent performance of the VW Passat, up 6 ranks and 32% to #5, the ageing Peugeot 207 up 20% to #6 and the VW Touran up 31% to #10.

Ford Kuga

Like last year, there are only 3 models above 1.6% market share, ensuring Switzerland keeps the title of most fragmented market in the world. Further down the ranking, the Skoda Fabia up 36% to #12, Ford Kuga up 30% to #13, its highest ranking anywhere in the world, BMW 5 Series up 53% to #25, BMW X3 up 256% to #33, Alfa Romeo Giulietta up to #35, Dacia Duster up to #37 and the Nissan Juke up to #38.

Chevrolet Camaro

Notice also the Porsche Cayenne up 41% and the VW Touareg up 58%, both selling 972 units and ranking equal-100th. The Ford Mustang is up 124% to 454 sales (#159) and the Chevrolet Camaro is up 56% to 176 units (#229).
