Germany November 2011: Audi A1 inside Top 20 for the first time

German car sales are up 4% in November 2011 to 269,144 registrations, with the year-to-date total still up a very healthy 9% at 2,929,133 units. Unusually, the Top 5 best-selling models are unchanged on last month: the VW Golf (7.9%) is followed by the VW Passat (3.2%), Mercedes C Class (3.1%), VW Polo (2.9%) and Opel Astra (2.8%).

Boosted by its new generation, the BMW 1 Series is up 9 spots on October to #7 with 5,787 sales and 2.2%. It is #15 year-to-date. The Audi A3 is also in good shape, up to #8 and 2.1%. But this month’s best performer is, like in October, the Audi A1. Improving on an already best-ever #23 and 2,977 sales last month, the A1 breaks into the monthly German Top 20 for the first time at #19 with 3,971 units and 1.5% share.

VW Beetle

Further down the ranking, the Renault Twingo is boosted by its new generation arriving in dealerships and now ranks #25 and third best-selling foreign model behind the Skoda Octavia and Fabia with 2,784 sales and 1%, the Ford C-Max and BMW X3 both stay strong at #26 and #32 respectively, the Hyundai ix35 is up a massive 34 spots on October to #38 and the Hyundai i20 does even better, up 56 ranks to #39.

Thanks to its frank facelift, the Mercedes ML Class goes from  #173 last month to #62 in November with 1,025 sales. Other newcomers improving this month include the Audi Q3, up 12 spots to #84, the VW Beetle is up a huge 83 ranks to #98 with 640 units, the Citroen DS4 is up 35 spots to #116 and the VW Up is… well up 136 spots to a still pretty shy 118th place with 409 sales.

    For the Fiat brand in Europe is Germany the main market.
    For Lancia and Alfa Romeo is France.
    Obviously excluding Italy.
