Tough summer for new car sales in Romania: after falling 16% in June, they drop by 18% year-on-year in July at 8,501 registrations, bringing the 2011 total to 40,259 units, down 14%. The Dacia Logan confirms its undivided domination with 1,800 sales and 21.2% share this month. The Logan has led the Romanian models ranking without interruption since its launch in September 2004, so nearly 7 years or 83 months in a row and counting!

The performer of the month is the Dacia Duster: with 749 sales and 8.8% share, it ranks #2 for only the second time in the country since its April 2010 launch, breaks its monthly volume record and hits its highest market share since August 2010! The Skoda Octavia is down one spot as a result to #3 with 5.4% but stays #2 year-to-date at 6.7%.

The Renault Symbol (#4, +1) and Ford Focus (#5, +4) are strong, the Kia Sportage is up 14 spots to #14 and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta breaks into the Top 50 at #50.
