Lots of movement in the Indian models ranking this month. The Maruti Alto still leads the way, up slightly on June at 24,974 units, its 2nd lowest figure in the last 12 months. The Maruti Wagon R (#2 at 10,629 units) and Hyundai i10 (#3 at 8,828) both lodge their weakest monthly volume in a year, note the Wagon R has passed the i10 in the year-to-date ranking.
The Mahindra Bolero improves on an already impressive June and is up 2 spots to an amazing 4th place overall, definitely the highest the model has ever ranked in India. The Maruti Omni also shines at #5, its highest ranking in at least 2 years, as well as the Maruti Ritz (aka Suzuki Splash), delivering its best position ever in 6th place with 7,307 sales, its highest ever volume.
The Toyota Etios continues to progress, up 3 spots to a best-ever 7th place with a record 6,646 sales, split between 4,095 Sedans and 2,551 Etios Liva Hatchbacks. Other great performers include the Chevrolet Beat up to a best-ever 13th place with a record 5,240 sales, the Hyundai Verna new generation up to #16 at 4,724 units, and the Mahindra Verito up to #27 with 1,630 sales.
Note the new gen Ford Fiesta delivers its first month of sales in the country at #40 and 781 units, the Tata Nano is down 7 spots to #20 at 3,260 sales, its weakest figure since November 2010 and the Maruti Swift & DZire have seen their production discontinued, waiting for the new generation to kick off, and therefore dropped to #46 (348 sales) and #21 (3,021 sales) respectively.
