The American models ranking is upside down again this month, still showing the impact of earthquake-related production shortages for Japanese manufacturers. The Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado trucks dominate the market as usual with 49,618 and 32,579 sales respectively, but the rest of the ranking is full of surprises…
The Chevrolet Cruze, less than a year after its US launch, jumps up to an amazing 3rd place with 24,896 sales, its very first time on the American podium. This means the Cruze is the best-selling passenger car in the USA this month! It is followed by the Chevrolet Malibu at 23,737 units, the 3rd Chevrolet in the Top 4 in June.
The Ford Escape improves on an already exceptional May figure, now #5 with 22,274 sales, up 43% year-on-year ahead of the Ford Focus, up 3 spots to #6. The Toyota Camry is back in the Top 10 at #7 but its traditional companions atop the ranking are still knocked out: the Corolla is #12, the Honda Civic #15 and Accord #18.
The Hyundai Elantra is regular at the highest level, #10 this month with 19,992 sales, whereas the VW Jetta delivers its best-ever volume in the US at 17,105 units and #17, up 88% year-on-year. The Kia Soul continues its outstanding run, up 1 spot to #21 and best-ever 11,314 sales, up 76%.
The Ford Mustang is up 19 spots to #33, the Fiat 500 ranks #122 with 1,803 sales, the Nissan Leaf is up 50% on May at 1,708 units and the Chevrolet Volt is up 17% at 561 sales.
