Spain 2004: Renault Megane back on top

The Spanish new car market is up a very healthy 10% in 2004 at 1.518 million registrations. Thanks to a very welcoming reception for the controversial new design, the Renault Megane is back in pole position, up 4 ranks on 2003 with sales up 25% to 72,514 units. The Peugeot 307 follows, up 7% to 69,449 sales while the Ford Focus rounds up the podium at 62,827 units and the Seat Ibiza is down 3 spots to #4 with 62,587 sales.

The Peugeot 206 is down one rank to #5 at 58,451 units, the Citroen C3 is up 13% and 2 spots to #6 with 48,015 sales, the Renault Scenic is up 7 ranks and a brilliant 38% to #7 at 45,056 units and the VW Golf reappears in the Top 10 at #10 with 40,688 sales, up 18%.
Kia Picanto
The month of December 2004 was very eventful in Spain with no less than 4 models breaking into the Top 20 for the first time. The Kia Picanto delivered an amazing 7th place with 3,952 sales and 3% share, the highest position ever reached by a Korean model so far in any major European country! The new Citroen C4 was #12 (2.2%), the Peugeot 407 #13 (2.1%) and the Seat Altea was #18 with 2,160 sales…
