The Irish new car market experiences explosive growth over the period, going from 64,000 registrations in 1993 to 80,400 in 1994, a 26% progression. The Top 2 best-sellers stay unchanged: the Opel Astra dominates the models ranking each year with 4,536 sales in 1993 and 5,709 in 1994, staying at 7.1% market share, while the Toyota Corolla sells 4,058 units for a 6.3% share in 1993 and 5,546 and 6.9% in 1994. The Ford Fiesta improves by one spot, from #4 in ’93 to #3 in ’94, swapping spots with the Toyota Carina.

Below the Ford Escort and Nissan Sunny stable at #5 and #6, the Ford Mondeo is up 9 ranks to #7 in ’94, the Opel Corsa is up 3 to #8 while the Nissan Micra and Opel Vectra are both down 2 spots to #9 and #10. Other great performers in ’94 in Ireland include the Citroen Xantia up 24 ranks to #19, the Fiat Punto landing at #22, the Peugeot 306 is up 106% to #23 and the Seat Ibiza is up 216% to #29.
