Ecuador September 2026: Chevrolet Groove, Kia Sonet, Toyota Hilux stand out in record market

Chevrolet Groove sales more than double year-on-year in September.

The Ecuadorian new vehicle market registers a third consecutive all time monthly volume in September at +39.5% year-on-year to 15,649 units, eclipsing the 15,281 units reached last month. Logically, the past quarter is the biggest in history at 45,742 (+38.4%). Year-to-date volumes are up 40.3% to 123,927.

In this euphoric context, Kia (+66%) remains ultra-dominant in the brands charts, even outpacing the market to 16.8% share. It distances Chevrolet (+39.5%), GWM (+71.1%) and Toyota (+60%). Chery (+49.3%) follows ahead of Hyundai (+5.5%). BYD (+92.8%) once again manages the biggest YoY gain in the Top 10 but falls four spots on August to #7. MG (+259.1%), Ford (+75.9%), Changan (+67.8%), Dongfeng (+66%) and Sinotruk (+55.5%) also make themselves noticed below.

Model-wise, the Kia Soluto (+41.6%) is ahead again, while the Chevrolet Groove (+116.3%) overtakes the Kia Sonet (+154.1%) to return to the 2nd spot it holds year-to-date. The GWM Poer (+37.9%) is up three ranks on last month to #4 with the Chevrolet D-Max (-26.3%) stuck at a paltry #5. The BYD Yuan Pro ranks #6 both for the month and year-to-date. The Toyota Hilux (+166.7%) and GWM Wingle (+102.6%) also impress.
