Ecuador July 2026: Market up 27.9%, Kia Sonet up 69%

The Kia Sonet is up 69% year-on-year in July.

No less than 14,812 new light vehicles found a buyer in Ecuador in July, that’s a 27.9% year-on-year surge, the highest overall tally in recent memory. This leads to a year-to-date volume up 39.1% to 92,997. Kia (+32%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country with 15.8% share, distancing Chevrolet (+21.5%) and Toyota (+34.1%). Dongfeng shoots up 159.4% year-on-year and five spots on June to land in 4th position with 5.2% share vs. 3.8% so far this year. Excellent performances also by DFSK (+51.1%), Suzuki (+43.2%) and JAC (+37.3%). All in all, Chinese manufacturers account for 56.3% of the Ecuadorian market in July and 53.9% year-to-date.

Model-wise, the Kia Soluto (+16.6%) stays the distant leader at 6.4% share vs. 4.1% for the #2, the Chevrolet Groove (+47.4%) in strong shape. The Kia Sonet (+69%) does even better at #3, keeping the Chevrolet D-Max (-22.7%) at #4. The Isuzu Pickup is estimated to climb to 5th place, knocking down the GWM Poer (-17.3%) and Wingle (+75.3%) to #6 and #7 respectively.
