China new models June 2026: BYD Great Tang and Leapmotor D99 land
BYD Great Tang
Now that June 2026 has been studied, let’s focus on the latest launches on the Chinese market. This month is a little quieter as most models unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show have now gone to market. We have four new models hitting the charts, all Chinese. To fully understand the scope of the Chinese market, make sure you consult our Exclusive Guide to all 193 active Chinese Brands.

1. Zeekr 007 GT (7,837 sales)
Although this is an existing model, it appears for the first time in the charts at the time its refreshed version hits the market. The 007 GT is marketed as the 7GT in Europe. It is a premium, high-performance electric shooting brake (station wagon) built on Geely’s advanced 800V platform. Its exterior design features a muscular, low-slung wagon silhouette with a sweeping roofline, panoramic glass roof, and the signature “ZEEKR STARGATE” front end—a customisable 90-inch LED light curtain strip. The interior features a driver-centric cabin lined in Microfibre suede and Nappa leather. It houses a 15.05-inch tilting OLED infotainment centre, a 35.5-inch AR head-up display, and a spacious trunk expandable up to 1,737 litres with the rear seats folded down.

In terms of specs, there are two powertrain options: RWD (Single Motor) with 421 hp (310 kW) and 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and AWD (Dual Motor) with 646 hp (475 kW) and 0–100 km/h in 2.84 to 2.95 seconds. It is available with a 75 kWh LFP or 100 kWh NMC battery pack, delivering between 580 km and 655 km WLTP range depending on configuration (up to 870–905 km CLTC in China). Charging is done through 800V high-voltage tech supporting 6C ultra-fast charging. It replenishes 10% to 80% battery in 10 to 13 minutes. The 007 GT comes standard with a LiDAR sensor and an NVIDIA smart driving chip for high-level autonomous pilot capabilities. Pricing in China goes from 202,900 to 252,900 yuan (26,200-29,100€ or US$30,000-37,300) and it competes with the likes of the Nio ET5 Touring, Denza Z9 GT and Exeed ES GT, all shooting brakes.

The BYD Great Tang is known in China as the Datang / 大唐. It is a luxury flagship full-size SUV. The Great Tang measures 5,260 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase. It implements a minimalist frontend with a full-width daytime running light strip, semi-hidden door handles, and a sleek silhouette accented by a roof-mounted LiDAR pod. It is offered as RWD (Single Motor) available in 402 hp or 496 hp variants, or AWD (Dual Motor) with 784 hp enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds. Stated CLTC ranges span from 800 km (base 105.8 kWh battery) up to 950 km (130.15 kWh battery) on the single-motor long-range variant. BYD shocked the domestic market with a highly aggressive pricing strategy for a vehicle of this footprint, from 239,900 to 309,900 yuan (30,950-40,000€ or US$35,400-45,800). It competes with the Leapmotor D19 (219,800-269,800 yuan), Xpeng GX (279,800-359,800 yuan) and Denza N8L (299,800-349,800 yuan). We have high expectations for this flagship model by BYD.

3. Bestune Yueyi 08 (515 sales)
Bestune needs all the help it can get, with wholesales down -43.1% over H1. It is doubtful however that the new Yueyi 08 sedan will manage to pull the brand back up on its own. The Yueyi 08 is a mid-to-large-size intelligent family sports sedan, measuring 4,920 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,475 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. It is the flagship of Bestune’s new energy “Yueyi” lineup, focusing on blending next-generation premium technology with aggressive affordability. The exterior features a fastback coupe silhouette with a pointed front end, frameless doors, and electric soft-closing mechanisms. It achieves an ultra-low aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.198 Cd. Its lighting technology showcases a “Galaxy Waterfall” split lighting scheme where vertically cascading LED light strips mimic a rushing waterfall. Inside, the Yueyi 08 adopts an asymmetrical, digital-minimalist cockpit layout with an oval steering wheel. High-end variants pack a 23-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system and multi-colour breathing ambient lights.

The Yueyi 08 is available as a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (EREV) or a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). It features a sportier rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout with 50:50 weight distribution. The BEV manages up to 650 km CLTC range. Powered by an 800V high-voltage architecture and 6C ultra-fast charging battery, it can replenish from 30% to 80% in just 7.5 minutes. The EREV combines an electric motor with a generator engine to yield a total range of 1,765 km. The vehicle is outfitted with 5-link independent rear suspension and Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) adaptive shocks tuned by a German team to eliminate cabin motion sickness. The Intelligence Suite operates on a dual-NPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip running multimodal AI agents. 4. Leapmotor D99 (327 sales)
Leapmotor is on a spectacular roll at the moment, with H1 2026 sales up 34.8% in a sinking market, earning it the 5th place in the overall brands ranking below only BYD, Geely, Volkswagen and Toyota. It seems that everything the brand touches turns to gold these days, which augurs well for the D99. This is the brand’s new flagship luxury MPV. Developed in partnership with Stellantis for its global scaling efforts, the 7-seat D99 brings elite executive tech into a highly flexible and competitively priced package. It measures 5,280 mm in length with a 3,110 mm wheelbase, carrying a streamlined “bullet-head” silhouette to keep aerodynamic drag low. It has an interactive rear light curtain containing 8,260 LED units capable of casting custom light graphics. Its interior uses a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout. The second-row features “Zero Gravity” executive captain’s chairs that support heating, ventilation, massage and 180-degree rotation. The EREV runs on an 800V platform pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged generator engine with an 80.3 kWh CATL battery, generating a combined 402 horsepower and 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds for a 480–500 km of pure-electric range alone and 1,160 km of combined fuel/electric range.
The D99 is priced from 249,800 to 319,800 yuan (32,200-41,300€ or US$36,900-47,200) and will compete with the likes of the Arcfox Wendao V9 (214,800-269,800 yuan), WEY Gaoshan (272,800-353,800 yuan) and Xpeng X9 (309,800-369,800 yuan).
