Iraq Q1 2026: Sales down -33.3%, Jetour (+23.9%) island of growth

The Jetour T1 is the 2nd best-selling recent launch in Iraq.

The Iraqi new car market loses one third of its year-ago volume over Q1 at -33.3% to just 29,765 units. Kia (-41.4%) falls significantly faster than the market and drops to 24.5% share, only 45 sales above Toyota (-32.8%) faring a tad better. Nissan (-4.1%) is strong in context and overtakes MG (-28%) for third place. Jetour (+23.9%) is the only Top 10 member in positive and climbs up to #5. Chevrolet (-68.4%) and Hyundai (-67.2%) completely implode while Soueast lands at #12 with 1% share.

As for the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (-34%) matches the market to easily lead the way at 11% share, distancing the Kia Sorento (-34.7%) and Frontier (-37.2%), the latter having been #1 over the Full Year 2025. The Nissan Sunny (-34.5%) and MG 5 (-40.6%), although in paltry shape themselves, leapfrog pas the Kia Sportage (-61.8%) to round out the Top 5. The MG 3 (+49.2%) and Nissan Patrol (+80.7%) defy the negative context with formidable gains. The Nissan Magnite (#12) and Jetour T1 (#16) are the best-selling recent launches.
