2,551,429 new light vehicles found a buyer in Brazil in 2025, a 2.9% year-on-year improvement and the highest annual volume since pre-pandemic 2019 (2,658,927). Fiat (+2.4%) continues to dominate with almost 535,000 sales and 20.9% share vs. 144,000 and 9.4% at home in Italy. Volkswagen (+9.1%) catches up and improves its market share by one percentage point to 17.2%. In contrast the next four carmakers are in negative. Toyota (-16.2%) and Chevrolet (-12.3%) are hit the hardest, with Renault (-5.1%) and Hyundai (-1.2%) also weak. BYD (+50.7%) is the best performing Top 10 member by far and climbs to #8, with Honda (+13.2%) also impressive at #9. Jeep (+2.4%) fails to match the market growth rate but remains in 7th place.
As for the models ranking, the Fiat Strada (-1.2%) manages a 5th consecutive annual win at 5.6% share. Like in 2024 it distances the VW Polo (-12.5%) but the gap has widened from 4,500 sales to 20,226. The Strada led the monthly rankings 7 times while the Polo was #1 for 5 straight months from April to August. The Fiat Argo (+12.6%) and VW T-Cross (+10.6%) both post very solid scores and gain two spots on last year to #3 and #4 respectively. On the other hand, the Hyundai HB20 (-12.4%) and Chevrolet Onix (-18%) struggle. Excellent results from the VW Saveiro (+18.8%) up four ranks to #9, the Jeep Compass (+22.4%) up eight to #10 and the Honda HR-V (+21.6%) up six to #11. The VW Tera is the best-selling launch at #21, even peaking at #2 in October and November and #3 in December.
